Customer Reviews:
By far the best book out there on publishing ebooks Feb 14, 2010
I was really surprised by this little book. When I first got it, I thought "Wow, it's so small." But after I read the book over the next two days, I was saying "Wow, it's so packed with useful information!" This little book is BIG in information. This purchase was one of my best on Amazon to date. The author is so generous with the information he gives you about all the ins and outs of getting your published in a variety of online mediums like via the Kindle, print on demand, iPods, etc. It's easy to read and all of the information is useful. I give this one a double thumbs up!
Good book, but T-H-I-N Dec 16, 2009
This book is useful- the information is good, but it's very THIN. I ordered it along with Micheal Marcus' book, "Become a Real Self-Publisher" which is over 400 pages. So when they came in the box together, this book looked like a little pamphlet compared to the other one.
I read the book in a few hours. The information about podcasting was great. Weber doesn't actually tell you how to do these things-- he just gives you the ideas that they are out there for you to learn about on your own. I wish he would have elaborated more about things.
That being said, I thought the book had a lot of useful information about e-publishing. There are a lot of promotional ideas that I never even considered. Like I said, the podcasting idea seems so good and I can't believe I never thought about it to promote my own books.
Great way to start ePublishing Dec 09, 2009
This is a good book for someone new to the ePublishing industry. I found it very informative. I keep it close by my desk for reference. There are so many ideas you must implement the ones that best suit your style.
The only downside is not the book. It's the technological environment we live in. It changes so fast that the author will need to update this shortly with the new release of Kindle for PC.
Another good book from Steve Weber Nov 14, 2009
Steven Weber's writing style is quick, fun and informational. This is another one of his quick solution reads that sums up a task that the reader wants to accomplished. It sticks to the topic and gives you nice tidbits of information to get you started in epublishing. The print advice was good but not as thorough as the epublishing tips.
I think I would've been happier if Mr. Weber would have focused mainly on epublishing and skipped print publishing and the small section on expense write-off tips. He's an informative enough author to create an entirely new book on author tax tips on its own without filling the pages of this book. Still, they are all good tips and beginning authors will be happy to read them.
A Must Have For Those Considering or Already Self-Publishing Nov 06, 2009
While the title focuses on epublishing, there are many great tips that will apply to those going the paper route of self-publishing. This is a quick read that is chalk full of interesting ideas, facts, tips, and suggestions on how to make your self-publishing venture a successful one. While some subjects could be fleshed out, this guide is an excellent jumping off point for beginners and a good reminder for the expert. If you are lost in the virtual publishing jungle, spend the ten bucks on this book, it'll more than earn it's cover price.
