As a publisher with an MBA and a MLS-holding librarian I was anxious to read this book... Dec 09, 2009
I live in both the producing and consuming realms of infopreneurship -- I'm publisher of "Timberlane Books" in my spare time and a voracious information-consuming librarian by day at a fairly large (25,000 student) university. Needless to say, I was delighted to come upon Stephanie Chandler's book to see what kind of tips and ideas she had put in her book.
Owner of Book Lovers Bookstores in Sacramento, California, Chandler is also a public speaker, founder of [...] and author. Her first book, "The Business Startup Checklist and Planning Guide: Seize Your Entrepreneurial Dreams!" was published in 2005.
I found "From Entrepreneur to Infopreneur: Make Money with Books, ebooks, and Information Products," to be a good "introduction for beginners" for those interested in repackaging their expertise and knowledge into an infopreneural product. Having "been there, done that," I can say that the sections of the book devoted to book development, writing, publishing and marketing are especially well-done. If readers follow her detailed instructions, they won't go wrong -- as long as they have a product readers want to buy. And, the step-by-step instructions for self-publishing are obviously written from experience as well -- as a writer and bookstore owner.
There's a lot of good content here as the chapter titles attest:
Ch. 1 "Information Product Opportunities: Fire-up Those Revenue Streams!"
Ch. 2 "Celebrity Sells: Achieving Expert Status."
Ch. 3 "Author Aspirations: Effective Writing for Books."
Ch. 4 "Go Big: How to Get Published Traditionally."
Ch. 5 "Do It Yourself: Self-Publishing Demystified."
Ch. 6 "eBooks and Special Reports: Make Money While You Sleep."
Ch. 7 "Other Information products: More Money in the Bank"
Ch. 8 "Your Web Site: Build it and They Will Come."
Ch. 9 "Online Marketing Techniques: Spanning the Globe."
Ch. 10 Offline marketing Techniques: Pounding the Pavement.
Ch. 11 "Catch a Buzz: Book Marketing."
Ch. 12 "Carpe Diem: Put Your Plans Into Action."
It's a delighful read, well-designed with a good structure that easily flows from one topic to the next. Reader's will especially enjoy the interview of an "expert" individual at the end of each chapter. Easily read in one business trip of one-to-two hours flying each way.
Highly recommended for individuals working at any point of the information-infopreneur pipeline as a useful and practical beginner's manual to help them break into electronic or hard-copy print.
An essential purchase for college and university libraries and worthwhile for public libraries in large metropolitan areas to consider.

FROM ENTREPRENEUR TO HAPPY INFOPRENEUR Dec 01, 2009
There are many books which offer instruction on how to increase your effectiveness as an entrepreneur. Stephanie Chandler has created one specifically for those who are knowledge providers and information brokers. She includes everything from the use of newsletters, e-zines, e-books, teleseminars, and speaking engagements. All of which are discussed in great detail to teach you how to build and maximize your profits. It's a must have book for infopreneurs in all industries.
Great book for entrepreneurs who need to reinvent themselves! Oct 21, 2009
Stephanie Chandler wrote a great book. I especially liked that she profiled experts such as Dan Poynter who are clearly top at how they are using their content to create a business. I especially liked her chapter on creating buzz as a book author. The specific samples that she gave can be duplicated and used immediately. If you want to understand how to monetize content, this is a good book to purchase.
